Let's talk about the parental mistreatment of chil

Let's talk about the parental mistreatment of children. While many, if not most, parents who engage in bullying their children do it subconsciously, maybe driven by their own trauma, the impact on the child may span a lifetime or more. It's so hard for children to detect or define emotional parental harm. And it can be challenging for a community to identify parental bullying when it is more subtle. Still, I believe it is our responsibility as adults to do the work to prevent and stop it. To call it out or in when we can. And work to create a culture that protects the personhood of children.

Deconstructing what is normalized is a start. We find ourselves doing this work as we parent through different developmental stages.

Personhood of children refers to the recognition that children are individuals with rights and intrinsic worth, rather than mere objects or property.
