Like Victoria Montou a midwife, healer and brilliant military mind who became a Lieutenant in Toussaint Louverture’s revolutionary army. She built an indigenous army of former slaves and native Saint-Domingue people, training them in guerrilla warfare and combat tactics.

And she is one of multiple women of considerable note in Haiti’s revolutionary history. Don’t try Haitian people. 

Never forget: Haiti, the world’s first black-led republic & only nation established by slave revolt in history, had to pay REPARATIONS to its French enslavers. $21 billion today, crippling debt that took 122 years to pay off.
